The Role

Reporting to the COO, the candidate will be responsible for managing all COO-related activities that pertain to Finance and Business Operations, while supporting the COO and CEO in a wide range of management activities.

Job Responsibilities

Broadly, the responsibilities of the role are determined by a mix of specific events, specific dates and a significant amount of ad hoc issues requiring a timely, well thought out resolution. The COO is responsible for all operational areas of the business, including HR, Finance, Payroll, risk management, contract management, governance, banking, policies and procedures, Accounts Payable & Receivable, execution on strategic initiatives and communication. ISx4 is at a point where the COO is required to be more focused on strategy and international expansion so a new position has been created to take over most of the existing responsibilities. The Finance and Business Operations Manager will own the following areas.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT - responsibility for finance including:

  • Finance operations including invoicing, bookkeeping, payments, debtors and creditors management and related Financial Control
  • Annual and interim financial reporting to management accounts stage
  • Preparing and presenting management reports to the COO and CEO
  • Liaising with external accountants

BUSINESS OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT - responsibility for non-Finance operations including:

  • HR Operations - responsibility for HR operations from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Contract Management - end-to-end responsibility for client contract processes.
  • Operations Management - responsibility for the execution of a range of general operational processes in relation to running the business.
  • Other COO/CEO Support - Sundry administrative and management-support tasks on a regular and ad hoc basis. The candidate will be required to contribute to any target operating models and will be integral to implementing new processes.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Qualified accountant with experience of end-to-end finance activities including presenting to senior management
  • Experience of office management / running an operations function
  • Experience of juggling ad hoc tasks in parallel with daily tasks
  • Some exposure to project management/PMO would be useful
  • Very organised process orientated person with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proactive and able to think beyond narrow tasks to the bigger picture, with an awareness of commercial considerations and risks, challenging where appropriate
  • Able to critically examine processes and procedure and have the confidence to make recommendations for improvements
  • Very good report presentation skills
  • A self-starter who is comfortable dealing with other staff across the organisation by phone, in person or email, and able to juggle a fluid to-do list
  • Adaptable, able to thrive in a rapidly changing organisation, remotely or onsite
